There are a few factors that affect how long it takes to sell a home.

How long does it actually take to sell a house? According to Realtor.com, listings in the United States currently spend an average of 65 days on the market. There are a number of factors that may influence this statistic.

1. Location. Being close to a main street or major transportation hub in your town can make a difference.

2. Price. You don’t want to overprice your home because this creates a low buyer pool for your home. You could also run into appraisal issues down the road by overpricing.

3. Inventory. What’s it like in your neighborhood? The amount of homes for sale in your neighborhood has an effect on the time before your home is sold.

4. School districts. This is a huge factor for buyers with children. Many parents go on school rating sites to see how schools in their area stack up.

5. Walkability. Is your home within walking distance of nearby stores or restaurants? Walkability may be a big factor for some buyers, but not as much for others.
