Most people reject the idea of selling a home around this time of year, but you shouldn’t. Here’s why.
- Buyers who are transferring and beginning a new job in January and need to find a home now
- Buyers who have been looking for months, and yours could be the home that finally fits their needs
- Buyers who receive healthy end-of-year bonuses that finally allow them to afford a home.
“Less competition could lead to a higher sale price.”
In reality, there’s a lot more competition in the spring market. During the holidays, there are fewer homes on the market. As a result, buyers have fewer options to choose from and it puts your listing in a great position. A home that’s nicely decorated for the holidays could be the tipping point. Remember, buying a home is more of an emotional decision than a transactional one.
If you can’t decide whether to list now or wait until spring, you need to look at the reasons why you’re selling in the first place. Where are you moving and why? There’s no reason to wait until spring in my opinion.
